Congratulations to Mrs Rosie on her recent Sam Dan testing! After over three and a half hours of continuous and unrelenting effort, which covered every aspect of the syllabus from white belt to third degree black belt, this was a true test of both character and endurance as well as technical ability. In total, those testing for Sam Dan performed over 250 speed drills, 530 kicks ( singles, doubles, consecutives, sliding and spinning ), and over 450 hand techniques as well as all patterns, defence drills and shield drills and those black belts were truly earned and richly deserved!

Voluntary Services Aberdeen Donation 2008
Christmas is a time for thinking about others who may be less fortunate than we are. This was the message for the students of Garthdee Choi Kwang-Do, pictured below with Garthdee School Owner and Chief Instructor Claire Rosie and guests from Westhill Choi Kwang-Do, who jointly presented Mary Drever, of Voluntary Services Aberdeen ( VSA ), with a gift of 50 Christmas selection boxes from the two schools.
Mary is Senior Young Carers Support Worker and works with young people across the city who are full-time carers for a family member at home. She runs the “Chill out Zone” in Castle Street. Opened in 2002, it gives young carers “space” - to do their homework, to meet with others or to just generally “chill out” in a place they can call their own, and which provides a temporary break from their caring responsibilities.
Fund Raising for ARI Neurology Unit (Ward 40) 2008
Congratulations to Mr. Rosie on raising £2800 for the Neurology Unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by doing an individual sponsored 10k row at the Peter Nicol Centre, Elrick on Saturday 20th April! Mr. Rosie is pictured below presenting cheques to Ward Sister Carolyn Annand and Consultant Neurosurgeon Mr. E.K. Labrum.
Mr Rosie said, " I would like to thank everyone for their great support and generosity and am delighted that we managed to raise such a wonderful sum, which is to be split between the Ward 40 Staff and Patient Funds and the Neurosurgical Endowment Fund, to provide money for specialist equipment and training. The skill and dedication of the surgeons, doctors and nurses undoubtedly saved my life and they do a fantastic job in often very difficult circumstances."
